A New Bench to Honour Ivor Gardner at the Millennium Field
Following discussions over the past few months, the Bromham Community Hub committee and the family of the late Ivor Gardner have agreed on plans to honour Ivor's memory in the village.
Many long-standing residents will remember that a commemorative bench dedicated to Ivor—a truly influential figure and great friend to Bromham—was sadly lost in the Bromham Social Centre fire in 2021.
After careful deliberation, Ivor’s family has made the decision to replace the bench with a new one. Out of respect for the family, the private reasons behind this decision will remain confidential, and we kindly ask the community to respect their privacy.
The Hub committee will purchase a replacement bench, matching the style of the original, complete with a duplicate of the original commemorative plaque. Subject to final site approval from the Parish Council at their upcoming meeting, the new bench will be installed in the Millennium Field, positioned facing the Hub.
Ivor gave so much to our community, and we hope this new spot will allow everyone to sit, reflect, and enjoy the views of the Hub for years to come.
“Ivor was an influential and great friend of the village, and I hope he will look down from on high and enjoy everyone using his new bench. RIP Ivor.” — Richard Dyke, Chairman
