The Official Opening of the Bromham Community Hub by Queen Camilla
After the original social centre was tragically destroyed in June 2021, the opening of the new Bromham Community Hub on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, marked a major milestone for the local community.
It was a truly royal occasion, and the village turned out in force to welcome Her Majesty.
Highlights of the Royal Opening
The Unveiling: Queen Camilla officially opened the hub alongside the Chair of Trustees, Sue Wilkinson, unveiling a plaque to commemorate the day.
A Personal Connection: The Queen has a home nearby in Lacock and has taken a personal interest in the project. She even donated a selection of plants to help with the landscaping.
Special Presentations: During her visit, she was presented with a drawing of her rescue dog, Moley, by a local artist.
A Day of Remembrance: In a touching moment, the Queen planted a tree in memory of Craig Dalby, a former Wiltshire police officer who had served on her protection team.
Rising from the Ashes
The journey from the 2021 fire to today is a testament to the village's resilience:
Fundraising: The community raised significant funds through local events, alongside grants from the National Lottery and the government’s Levelling Up fund.
The New Facility: The hub features a new café, high-speed fibre Wi-Fi, and flexible spaces for groups like the Bromham WI, the Monday Club and the Bromham Ladies.
Community Core: Since opening its doors, it has already hosted everything from "Open Mic" nights to carnival quizes and bingo, officially putting the "heart" back into Bromham.
